The Message Board..first anniversary.

Post by Andrew McGeever »

It's been one year since this message board was set up by Jarkko (no. 1 on the memberlist, and in so many other respects).
I joined about 10 days later, being the 50-somethingth member. Others, on "older" message boards, had already arrived.
Looking back over the last 12 months, over the 10,360+ articles, it's a fact that, out of the 477 members, more than 50% of the articles have been written by 22 correspondents, and, with one addition, this increases to 72%.
I have found my time on this board rewarding, challenging and annoying (in different measures). How do other board members feel? Should we celebrate this anniversary? If so, how?
Andrew (pleading guilty to more than 280 posts).

P.S. I'm going back to Greece next month, solely for the purpose of avoiding the conflict of numbers and percentages.
Kali mera......I have work today.

Happy First Anniversary to you ~ Jarkko, Rauli, and Eija. Leonard.

This year in the brightness of the grey-blue and grey-white ~ with many thanks to whomever came together to design it. It's still as beautiful as it was on day one.

Thanks to Andrew and Lizzytysh - you were faster than I! Let's add some statistics for those who love numbers (are there any?). During the first year we have had 1070 different topics, or threads, that's three new ones every day. The daily average of messages to the board is 28,5.

Many of the threads are of course full of private talk, but hopefully also the original ambition has been met: to discuss Leonard's work, to create a home port for our little community, to spread the news. I'm sure that during the next year we will have many interesting topics and news.

I would like to encourage all who are not yet members to join the Forum, and those who already are, they are invited to take part in the discussion. Also, do not forget the other Leonard Cohen forums on the net (the official Various Positions board hosted by Sony and especially our pioneer newsgroup alt.music.leonard-cohen).

My warm-hearted thanks to all who read this. Another interesting year is waiting - let's go ahead!

Jarkko

Open a year! It only feels like yesterday.
Like Andrew i am returning to Greece shortly and this will cut down the number of my posts(oh no!), for a short period( do i hear P raise his glass).
It has been good fun on this Board with a good range of viewpoints. I must again thank Jarrko for the time and effort he puts into everything and allows each of us to have the advantage of different perspectives on Leonard.
May the next year bring more contributers to the Board.

Happy Birthday, board!

A big "Thank you!" to Jarkko and the team, and an even bigger one to all those who, with their contributions, made this forum flower, this community grow, and live, and - across all differences in opinion and style - made this place something very special and dear...

To all those who "never" post: This thread is a very good chance to start into your "contributor's career" by thanking Jarkko for the first year and for those to come...

I've always considered the 5th an important mark, jurica  ......or seven, as in marriages ["seven-year itch"], or the biblical number of such great importance, including purportedly the number of G~d. Guess we'll just wait and see who brings up what, when.

Yes, to those who are still Guests, please join and participate. To those who are Members and silent, please join in.

A very lovely response, Jarkko.

Penblwydd happus y bwrd yr post (I think)

Lets hope for many more years, and, in a personal capacity, a little less confrontation between people who should be celebrating LC.
