If One Day The Sign Was Sent

Post by daka »

If One Day The Sign Was Sent

I would descend the mountain
One last time
If I heard the order
From on high

I would do so slowly
Imperceptibly
Descend down to the valley
And one day I would find thee

I would wander through the markets
Strolling through the streets
And when I was ready
You would arrange to meet

Wordlessly, no change of pace
Heartbeat still
No mental race
No game of will

Like Brando in Last Tango
I wouldn't ask your name
You wouldn't ask me mine
We wouldn't need that game

Our place of rest
Another gift
Would manifest
And there we'd drift

All would be
The play before
We wouldn't need
Any more

Motionless in bliss
Entwined in still embrace
Like those Tibetan couples
In a state of grace

Relax, ladies, the sign has not been sent!
If you don't become the ocean you will be seasick every day....Jikan (aka Leonard Cohen)

It's comin' from the feel that this ain't exactly real, or it's real, but it ain't exactly there! . Jikan

Leonard also seemed to be looking for signs. Maybe to be absolutley sure that there was a crack in everything,
we asked for signs
the signs were sent
the birth betrayed
the marriage spent
the widowhood of every government
signs for all to see
Maybe you are limiting yorself by wanting the signs to come from on high.
Everything being said to you is true; Imagine of what it is true.

Poetic License again Jack

I am used to getting signs now, after 14 years of receiving them.

They are not at all subtle
They are very specific
Sometimes they come sideways
Or out of someone's mouth
Or in a dream that needs
No interpretation
They are crystal, they are clear
Not from far
They come from near
I said 'from high'
With Irish lapsed Catholic humor
Not believing it, for a moment
(Consider it confessed!)

Hey Marlon, you won't get the signs you're looking for in Spain (I think I read somewhere that you live in Spain). You're much more likely to find butter in Ireland, they're more fond of their olive oil in Spain!

That was very funny Joney!
(You must be Irish too?)

I was wondering if someone
Might be tempted to
Sacreligiously spoil
The holy moment
Of my imagined
Mountain descent
I knew Marlon's flick
Was a bit of a risk
A humor opportunity
Temptation that
I wouldn't miss

That's where the poem came from, Jack.
I have been playing and singing Anthem for weeks now.
I figure I might die happy if I can sing and play one song well
More would be a bonus
Since I have no one to bore
On the mountain
I can play it badly continuously
Until it's good
Anthem is my mantra lately

I never tire of it
And being a fairly un-emotive type
This song moves me like no other

When I play and sing it I remember your dancing lesson

Sorry but I just couldn't resist and yes I am Irish.
No need to apologize,
I realize
You couldn't help yourself!
Your humor betrays you!
Like Leonard's lobes

My parents were very Irish
'Da' still alive at 85 in Toronto
With sense of humor intact
But I was born in London
This was the theme for my 'da'
Of torment and tease
From the Irish who, like you,
Wouldn't pass up a humorous 'crack'
He had his retort:
'If a cat had kittens in the oven
You wouldn't call them cookies'

My favorite of a zillion Irish 'Cracks'
Is related to Brendan Behan's Father
(Brendan was an occasional drinking companion of 'Da')
Who, one typical Sunday morning
Was suffering the hangover from hell
But, worse, still, the wrath of his wife.
He was hiding behind his paper, like a shield
From the barrage of verbage
From the homicidal Bitchin'
In the Kitchen.
He removed his shield and said to her
"Sure if jesus Christ was married to you
He'd climb back up on his comfortable fucking cross!"

I'm glad you like kittens!

daka.... a.k.a. Seán

Do you live in Eire?
I will be there in March for a week
appearances scheduled
in Dublin and Galway
maybe we could meet
if you can tolerate
a teetotaller

Hi Daka

I live in London although I'm originally from Dublin. You can take the girl out of Dublin but you can't the Dublin out of the girl. Hope you have a great time in Ireland, I'm sure you'll have a great laugh. Keep looking for those signs!

Regards
Joney
