you or me
you or me
i sit in my room
with my eyes closed
and stuff comes
it abides
and then it goes
Universe
are you telling me
something about
you
or are you telling me
something about
me
sitting in my room
with my eyes closed?
I come to him
when he is sitting
in his room
with his eyes closed
one by one I show him
parts of me
Is he telling me something
about him
or is he telling me something
about me
when he is sitting
in his room
with his eyes closed?

Re: you or me
Ummm…very nice. Calming and relaxing – I can imagine you touching the universe, balancing on the edge of understanding as you meditate. I felt my own breathing slow as I read this.

It was a memory I had of back when I was Buddha. Even then I had a lot of questions.Cate wrote:Ummm…very nice. Calming and relaxing – I can imagine you touching the universe, balancing on the edge of understanding as you meditate. I felt my own breathing slow as I read this.

Hey! You never told me you were Buddha too.

You never asked.Manna wrote:Hey! You never told me you were Buddha too.
It was only recently that I figured that I might be able to get away with saying that. Daka was telling me about the certain kinds of statues there are of Buddha and I have 33 statues here myself and they do not all look the same. People are being told all the time that they should discover their Buddha nature but should you ever discover it, how will you know you have? will you look in the mirror to see if you look like a statue? Then which one ? So I took a short cut and just decided that my Buddha nature was a guy who was making mistakes all the time and was very curious. Since it seems like I have been like that for a long time I figured Buddha was too and so I must have been him. I could be wrong but good luck trying to prove it. Did he ever say "I no longer make mistakes" or " I am no longer curious" ?

Re: you or me
Be careful, because if you are/were Buddha, it is the duty of all devotees to kill you. Thus allowing you to ascend...

What Does a Baby Know? .. (version 2)
what does a baby know
when all is new
light splaying
people talking too
saying trust me
I will tell you
how to see
what to do
You have my time
to put it all in place
and then safely slide into
the holy human race
we count not labels
nor the names
but you will have enough
to stay this side of sane
we shall ensure
you learn before the bell
the skill of telling
differences so well
we hope you don't rebel

Hi Jack
This is a very good and important question. I will try to answer it succinctly, if i can.
Firstly we all experience our very subtle mind (which is our Buddha nature) a number of times in our life and in a number of ways:
1) whenever we go to sleep the gross minds dissolve leaving the subtle minds to manifest, then subtle minds then dissolve allowing the very subtle mind to manifest. Whenever we sleep we experience this dissolutiion process, however because our memory is not usually functioning it passes very quickly and we don't remember. Shantideva, and others train in the capacity to maintain mindfulness during the sleep process, and meditate with that very subtle mind.
2) When we die our gross mind dissolve exactly as they do when we go to sleep, and we experience the 'subtle mind' profoundly. The experience is a common one, as all people die, not only Buddhists. Most people, when they come back from the near death experience describe this it as an extremely blissful bright light conjoined with a variety of blissful 'experiences'.
3) Experienced meditators, sitting on a cushion, can through concentration experience this process of dissolution of internal winds and the associated minds. This is difficult for most people, but possible.
The mind that manifests is called the "Clear Light". There are three such minds, , the clear light of sleep, the clear light of death, and the clear light of meditation. This mind is extremely powerful and very blissful. With this mind we meditate on the true nature of all phenomena, increasing our wisdom, our bliss, and we slowly approach the final goal... enlightenment.
Becoming a Buddha is basically very simple, peeling off the deceptive conceptual layers of our reality, identifying and meditating on the ultimate nature of al phenomena, realizing, directly, the ultimate truth of all phenomena, then beginning to help others do the same.
Hope this helps a little

How about the clear light of fucking?
To be precise, Jack this clear light mind is not a fourth option but a part of the third (during meditation), accomplished while two practitioners are meditating "in union" . If they are fucking like I used to fuck then they are not meditating. and they have no hope of manifesting the clear light mind.
This is the trickiest approach to attaining clear light realizations; it is called the "slippery slope of tantra". Unless there are already clear and observable signs of the dissolutions of the gross minds happening in meditation the person has no hope of success in tantric meditation practice with a 'consort', and may get a baby out of the effort but not much more.

Re: you or me
Maybe fucking is part of the clear light mind (?) of death.
Petit mort. I don't think I've ever had any other kind of mind during orgasm.

Re: consorting
Daka what if you talk your religion with your 'consort' and she won't convert? Do you trust that there might be another way than meditating?daka wrote:How about the clear light of fucking?

There is a kind of Light that is called "Blue Alert" have you heard of it?
I hear also It is a good light for us oldtimers who are pretty tired.A Blue Alert, also known as Code Blue or Condition Blue is an alert signal status used on the fictional television series Star Trek to indicate a situation on a starship or outpost such as docking maneuvers, separation maneuvers, landing, or an environmental issue.
By the way Daka, have you heard Leonard's and Anjani's Blue Alert

Re: you or me
Now you are getting a bit 'weird' on me Manna!Maybe fucking is part of the clear light mind (?) of death.
Petit mort. I don't think I've ever had any other kind of mind during orgasm.
Although Marlon Brando in "The Brave", directed by Jonny Depp, did discuss the exquisite bliss/pain of giving birth while he was selling the idea of starring in a snuff movie to Jonny Depp (The Brave). ... I also have not experienced childbirth in this life!)... As I remember, my wife wasn't 'getting off on the bliss of it all, until it was over)
I have no personal experience of the females' orgasm, although, of course for many years it was an imagined object of meditation for me. for many hours. The man's ordinary orgasm does not not resemble the clear light experience closely but it is 'remembered' as sort of a spark plug to ignite the imagined bliss during some meditations. And if it is controlled, subdued during meditation practices it can be useful.
I hear the pitter patter of the Pharisees... best change the subject....
Jack... How are the Montréal Canadiens doing??
Oh, Jack re: Blue Alert, I have heard a few songs but not the whole album as I don't have it yet.

Re: you or me
when you're dead, it is all complete, and you can't do anything but submit. Same with orgasm. Even if you happen to think of your mother (now that is weird!) or something completely unsexy (an ottoman) or uncomfortable (talking about orgasm on an ottoman with your mother), your orgasm will continue, just like death.
Re: you or me
This is very true, Manna it's beyond you, out of your control.Manna wrote:when you're dead, it is all complete, and you can't do anything but submit. Same with orgasm. Daka this is not something I would normally say to a monk but I think fucking in general is very similar to meditation. Senses are heightened. You can be extremely focused and clear minded at the same time.
Manna’s right when that moment of climax comes it’s beyond you, you are no longer in control. Whether you submit to the Universe or to God or to your body however you want to think of – it’s beyond you personally.
Not to push it to far, but there’s also a moment of extreme clarity there – not that I’m thinking about that at the time. Afterwards the body and mind feel very peaceful and at rest.
I don't see how this could be one of the most difficult forms of meditation - It seems that this would be one of the more natural forms of meditation as our bodies seem pre-programed for it - so to speak. As far as the consort... well I suppose it might help..but..I'm not sure she's necessary.
Anyways I definitely think I experience something spiritual here even though my parter doesn't. You can’t tell me I’m wrong in this Daka – I’m very pious in this regard.
