Re: Statement from Cohen Estate: Unauthorized use of "Hallelujah" as finale to Convention Festivities
I remember going to a church service and when they did "Hallelujah", it took so much willpower not to crack up laughing. Maybe "So Long Marianne" would have been better with the leaked tape of his sister trashing him on it that came out.

RE: NY Times review "His publishers often hurry into print whatever scraps lie stuffed in his desk drawers or overflow his wastebasket." Um, yeah, Adam had nothing better to do than go through his father's papers and had the difficult task of putting this together, but curious if he and Lo...

Re: Leonard Cohen on Twitter?
Bumping this, people are believing it's him, esp. at 14,000 followers! I didn't want to bother Adam, but it would be funny if he started messing with him. I'm fine when they say they're a fan or a parody. Quoting lyrics... fine. But with that many followers and no denial? https://twitter.com/#!/Leon...

Neil Diamond covering "Hallelujah"
No audio yet, but the new CD comes out in a few weeks. I think this is the second or third time Neil's covered LC.

Re: The Leonard/Janis thread
also, still trying not to go off topic but this question has been gnawing at me for a while, does anyone know if Mr. Cohen ever met Jim Morrison? I've been an avid Doors fan since I was 13 and know that The Doors played the Isle of Wight shortly before Mr. Cohen, but I also know that Jim hadn't sle...

Re: Chelsea Hotel for sale!
Hopefully this falls into the hands of someone who has a love for the building and deep pockets, because I doubt it'll be "sold for a song".
It's also a little on the steep side to stay there.

Re: Leonard sings a Bee Gees song
The song was written with the intent of Otis Redding singing it, but unfortunately died before that happened. Of course, it's been covered by a lot of great singers since then. I've always respected them as singers and songwriters, because their harmonies were always perfect, they could go on a morn...

Re: The Leonard/Janis thread
"Chelsea Hotel #1" mentions winter of '67. Janis didn't play NY until Feb '68.
It sounds like a song he'd write after hearing how she died and thought back to when they got together and his memory of her.

Katey Sagal's "Bird on a Wire" cover
Saw "Sons of Anarchy", heard the song, wasn't sure who it was until I went to the site for the show. Turned out to be Katey, who is also one of the stars of the show. I know she used to be a backup singer for a bunch of people, including Dylan and Bette Midler. Also found out she was Etta ...

Re: BONO CRIED OVER COHEN
Some people prefer specific eras, no different than Joni Mitchell or Tom Waits as far as specific eras go. Bob Dylan is a good example of someone that people love a specific era of, because if you say "Dylan 64" and "Dylan 66", it's like talking about 2 different people. How many...

Re: BONO CRIED OVER COHEN
Cohen is also a reminder to Bono that he is still just a journeyman, and that U2 still have a lot of work to do. Which can be good or bad, but if they're going to have staying power, he's going to have to give up the arena shows. Bono and Edge were a good interview on Elvis Costello's "Spectacl...

Re: Leonard Cohen and "Hallelujuh" Cover at 'Hope for Haiti Now'
Why I don't like critics - I'm sure he felt Timberlake committed blasphemy. How was he out of his depth?? I heard Bono's attempt at it just one time. And Bob Dylan's. Ex girlfriend of JT's - Cameron Diaz - was/is a big Jeff Buckley fan, I'm sure Justin knows all of "Grace" inside and out b...

Re: $175 per ticket?!?!
What's ridiculous are what the ticket brokers/scalpers are trying to get. At least you have some hope on the forum of getting face value tickets, and checking back with Ticketmaster (or whoever the ticket company is in your area) of more tickets coming out. What is good - forums like this where fans...

Re: Leonard in San Diego
Best Western's really close to there and with everyone getting out around the same time. The worst thing I've had to deal with there is parking and getting around road work. The warning has more to do with going to Gaslamp after the show for drinks because it's not that close, most of the hotels adv...
