Re: Gillian Welch
Gillian Welch means a lot to me . It's from her that i first heard of the music called bluegrass , from witch , by then , I just can't part .
Each and every song of her's makes me shiver in a whole different way . It's hard to point a favourite , but , at the moment , Paper Wings is the one that really delights me .

Re: Gillian Welch - david cameron is a fan
i'd never heard of her until i read about her uk concert being attended by david cameron, the uk prime minister, and his wife, samantha.

Scary moment for David and Samantha Cameron when they slipped away briefly from Downing Street on Wednesday night to watch a gig by American country singer Gillian Welch.
The Prime Minister, dressed down in jeans and casual top, sat a few rows from the stage at Hammersmith Apollo as Gillian performed a selection of her critically acclaimed records.
At one point, she turned directly towards him in the audience and declared: ‘Now that we know each other a little better, let’s get Dave to do a song.’
Sadly, she was referring to her musical partner Dave Rawlings. A fellow concertgoer tells me: ‘Sam looked momentarily startled.’
