Re: AMERICA LOST (and Leonard's "Puppets")
Hi violet
I read this sans the introduction, and have yet to hear LC's Puppets song.
On its own, the poem held my interest, even intruiged me. The image of the grave cut perfectly to the contours of the body
is a powerful one. More such images might bring the work from interesting to moving.
On a philosophical note I would say the cultivation of awareness is the only effective subtrefuge/antidote for the
group mind.
cheers

Hi J.R.,
I thank you for your input on this, and will see if it prompts my unconscious mind to do anything further with this poem, since, consciously speaking, my sense is that it's finished.
Sincerely,
Violet
[much later edit: I'm again here looking back at things, deciding what to leave of myself at this forum]

Casey,
I've been meaning to ask, what is the link to the Elvis footage supposed to mean?
very curious,

Nothing's coming to mind that feels right, sorry.Violet wrote:Casey,

I guess just think about it in the context of your poem here.

Edit to add: The video is gone now anyway, Violet, something about a third party complaining about copyright violation, which does stir me to post the following that I've been not posting:
I read this story about a virgin and her children, virgins all.
It reminded me of:
1. Then shall the Kingdom of Heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
And, as I pasted the above in, a spider walked across my reading glasses, so:
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
1. A.L.M.
2. Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe.", and that they will not be tested?
3. We did test those before them, and God will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.
4. Do those who practise evil think that they will get the better of Us? Evil is their judgment!
5. For those whose hopes are in the meeting with God in the Hereafter, let them strive; for the term appointed by God is surely coming and He hears and knows all things.
But I could be wrong.
We asked for signs? The signs were sent. -LC

This is a forum for playing games, so I suppose it's all happening by our own ways.
Plain English is not spoken here! It's all in the Gospels anyway, if it was to be heard I guess it would be heard there? We know history, what are the odds anybody is giong to hear little old me...
When they can't even hear Elvis, the King of Rock & Roll.
