Police playing Manchester arena on 17 June
Police playing Manchester arena on 17 June
I have just found out that Police are playing Manchester arena on 17th June (rescheduled from 15 October) which is one of the nights Leonard is on at the Opera House. Traffic around Manchester on approach roads will be horrendous if you are coming by car allow plenty of time.

I don't think it will be a problem Manchester is one of the best citys in the UK to get in and out of. 75.000 leaving Old Trafford clears in about an hour so I can't see two concerts in different parts of Manchester being a problem.

car parking might be a problem though.
By the way Old Trafford isn't in Manchester.

it's a little known fact (but one much trumpeted by Manchester City fans) that the Man U ground is not actually in the city of Manchester, it's in Traffordfrankiecrisp wrote:

Well I used to have a job that involved commuting from north east London to Manchester near the airport, on a weekly basis. The firm wouldn't pay for airfares so I went by car. Whenever there was a concert at the Arena, or Man United were at home, the traffic into and out of Manchester on the motorways was absolutely horrendous. But that was 5 years ago so maybe it has much improved since then?

The M6 and 62 are still horrendous but getting in and out of Greater Manchester is fine.honeyrose wrote:Well I used to have a job that involved commuting from north east London to Manchester near the airport, on a weekly basis. I think that strictly speaking Old Trafford is inthe City of Salford and not the City of Manchester and The Police are playing on both Tuesday (for which I have tickets and won't be going) and Wednesday too. Please though, the point about parking is valid as The Opersa house and Arena are broadly at the same side of town and may share some parking as the Arena tries to capture people for parking at the end of the "East Lancs" A road. Just allow a littl time or park at the Piccadilly end or centre of Town, shame to miss even a second of Heaven for something as drab as Sting and Co
