Wind and Rain

This is bit embarrassing, but it means well. I'd value your comments:
Wind & Rain
I’ve been travelling for a long time-
I am weary and I’m older.
How much further can I carry
This heavy weight upon my shoulder?
I asked this question of a stranger
Who had been here so long before
And she offered no real comfort
As she asked me, ‘Can you carry more?’
(Ch:) I wanted to fly from the rain and wind
But I had to stay on Earth
Where wars are fought and men are pinned
By the deaths that follow birth.
I went down to the old Café
Where the people do their drinking.
I wondered if they found the way
To be happy without thinking.
Ah, when you’re young, are you stronger?
Are you flowing? Do you feel less pain?
As you grow, does your freedom go?
Do you feel the wind and the lashing rain?
(Ch:) I wanted to fly from the rain and wind
But I had to stay on Earth
Where wars are fought and men are pinned
By the deaths that follow birth.
That heavy weight, it can crush you,
Turn you inwards and make you blind.
You don’t notice the others with you,
Far ahead or left behind.
If we learn to share the burden
We can reach the calmer place.
Turn no blind eye to the helpless
And join the crowd in the Café.
(Ch:) I wanted to fly from the rain and wind
But I had to stay on Earth
Where wars are fought and men are pinned
By the deaths that follow birth.
The stranger came and she told me:
‘You’re not just flesh, nor just bone.
What’s inside cannot be eroded.
Knowing this, you’re never alone.’
I sing this for the unrewarded,
The frustrated and dispossessed.
For the lonely and the wandering
And for those who feel unblessed.
(Ch:) I wanted to fly from the rain and wind
But I had to stay on Earth
Where wars are fought and men are pinned
By the deaths that follow birth.
I actually sang it in public once and I can't SING! One person came up and said 'You were very brave'! and another said 'I liked the WORDS'!!! Singing career begun and finished on the same night. Ah well!
