Another collaboration, but not with anyone here. With my poet friends, "Mugs" & "Chicky."

I hope I don't die in my sleep
I'd like to second
that for the time being!!
For when the time arrives... many years hence... however, I vote for hoping you do.
So, your "Mugs" & "Chicky" efforts are going so well, eh?

A little question of the intent for this piece came up in the holy place where my poet friends and I meet. I like that a poem about the split between dierction and intent has its own intent taking various directions. hee hee hee.
Here was my response:

Hmm. Is it supposed to make sense? Well, let's see...

ass-backwards from intent.
This seemed like a set-up to me. It's saying that no matter where you try to go, you end up going the other way.
Sleep is often likened to death, though it is more often that death is likened to sleep. And why do we sleep? Well, so we can wake up. The intent of sleep is to refresh, not the rest eternal.
I hope I don't die in my sleep.
Also, many people, if they could choose, might choose to die "peacefully" in their sleep. (That would be an intent, yeah?) Grandma went peacefully in the night. How many times have you heard that? (As long as we're choosing, I don't want to die at all. Alas...) I think I want to be awake when it happens because I want to be aware that it is happening, but that's just my own personal weirdness. So, the direction and the intent may be at cross purposes, both existing.
So, that's what this does for me. I also like that the little poem is convoluted to the point of its intent being multifold, and its direction also multifold. I never know if stuff like that works. If I may say so myself, I think it's clever, quirky and funny, and I am glad people have been able to laugh at it. My boss said, "I think we need to be a little more positive." But I don't know what his interpretation of it was. He loves his job with all get-out, and tends to relate everything to work. So maybe he thought I was feelingn hopeless about my work, but I'm just guessing.
Other folks have other things they think about it?

Well, first I need to withdraw my wish for your way of going to be in your sleep, Manna. I know what you mean, so I'll change it to peacefully while awake. The rest I'll need to focus on later. I just wanted to get that taken care of for now.
