The Ghost in You

The Ghost in You
There’s a ghost in you,
Softly hiding—
Edging closer to the unknown after.
You reach for a future life,
A future lie worth telling.
And I’m stretching to fit
Into that unknown life,
Make myself a part of its shifting matrix.
And the form of the spirit
—An angel without wings—
Whispers in the shadows you throw
While shifting your body through time,
Suggesting the shape
Of your eventual transformation.
There’s a ghost in you,
Creeping softly—
Edging further from the love you throw,
Dropping from the edge of that life we share.
And I’m stretching to fit
Into that unknown life,
At the bottom of the drop.
I’m an angel without wings,
Wandering too close
To the ghost in you.
There’s a ghost in you,
Softly hiding—
Edging closer to the unknown after.
You reach for a future life,
A future lie worth telling.
And I’m stretching to fit
Into that unknown life,
Make myself a part of its shifting matrix.
And the form of the spirit
—An angel without wings—
Whispers in the shadows you throw
While shifting your body through time,
Suggesting the shape
Of your eventual transformation.
There’s a ghost in you,
Creeping softly—
Edging further from the love you throw,
Dropping from the edge of that life we share.
And I’m stretching to fit
Into that unknown life,
At the bottom of the drop.
I’m an angel without wings,
Wandering too close
To the ghost in you.
