" Another Mothers Son"
I live within an overflow of tears, to think on many a mothers tender years,
Enduring surely what no man could stand, patiently nursing a fetus to a man,
To nurse a son from ones own tender breast, to give them life and love and all the very best,
To spend your years in life and all your wealth, insuring proper schools and food and health.
Not a child in the backyard at your heel, This war is Sad and Terrrifyingly real!
That dirty lonely face is still a boy, but the rifle in his arms in not a toy.
To kill a boy he could meet on the street. To watch some " Mothers Son" fall at his feet.
He carries in his arms a loaded gun. He's been TRAINED TO KILL ANOTHER MOTHERS SON! 2SPIRITS/SUNDOWN MEADOWS

Dear Sundown ~ Welcome to the Forum. I like your song/poem. I don't think Leonard would sing it, simply because your style is very different from his...though you turn the mirror to reflect the other way with your concept, as he might do. However, I think you should sing it. It sounds like it would make a very good song, though when it comes to phrasings with music, that's a musician's world. I can still hear the song there, no matter what. I like it.

Shwmae Sundown Meadows,
An interesting first post - you would like LC to turn your poem into a song.
I don't really think it would work as a song (I am something of a musician, albeit a very small something) because the meter changes line by line, which would make it difficult, but not impossible, to give a musical structure.
I like the sentiments of the verse but I wouldn't want to put it to music.
