i'm curious about the BBC documentary 'Songs from the life of Leonard Cohen' . Is there any place i can get a copy? I emailed the bbc and go this respons ( see below ) but wondere if anyone here knew.

Further, the programme was never commercially released which means we are unable to provide copies for copyright and contractual reasons.

They are wrong in saying that it was never commercially published. Sony released it on home video world-wide, and it was available for several years in late 80's/early 90's until Sony's rights to it expired.
There are now plans to put some Cohen footage on DVD, and this program is one of the candidates. However, the owners of the rights have to reach an agreement on the financial issues first.

Meanwhile, private DVD copies of this excellent program are circulating.
