:
UK residents only can sign

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/leonardcohen/

The petition reads:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Recommend
that Leonard Cohen the canadian singer be awarded a knighthood
for services to the arts.

Permission would have to be obtained as Canadians are not
allowed to accept honours usually. Leonard Cohen is a true
poet, singer and superstar who has illuminated the lives of
many people around the world and no member of the Commonwealth
is more deserving than he.

Signed it Simon I did not even know that facility existed.

Then I misread the date and thought it was yesterday.

Getting old ain't all its cracked up to be.

... and I hope that every one of them who can, will... Leonard would fit this to a t... like a knight in some olde-fashioned book 8) .

I'm sorry my signature's not allowed, for I would surely sign.

Thanks for posting this, Simon. We know Leonard has Prince Charles's vote :D .

2 million people signed the road pricing petition - and the government still ignores them however I'll be happy to get 500!

Other luminaries with petitions for knighthoods include humphrey lyttleton and pete townsend!

No doubt that 'my' petition was started by a Mrs. Trellis, of North Wales?

Wasn't Paul McCartney awarded one, as well, Simon?

You are not really Humphrey Lyttleton are you?

Hello Simon

I have signed a couple of petitions with 10 Downing Street and I believe ex-pat Brits like myself can sign not just UK residents. I signed one petition to save RAF Northolt's WWII buildings and another to make the late great Liverpool FC manager Bob Paisley an honorary knight (yes I am an avid soccer fan and Reds supporter).

there's also a rejected petition to give Man City £40m in return for 40,000 votes - this was rejected for some reason?

Hope you have signed it!

Hi Simon

I was glad to sign and hope the petition is successful. It would be nice to see Leonard so recognized. :D

What a load of old bo....ks. Perhaps we proles should doff our forelocks in gratitude that such a system exists.

I'm not in favour of the honours system however............

It is generally for ex politicians, civil servants with the proletariat represented by Trevor Brooking and my local lollipop lady (BEM of course)
however

LC is different - I would like Leonard to be recognised.

Maybe if Leonard loaned Tony some money
