American

Tom is his name
It's innocent enough
He goes out each morning
Earns his daily bread
He car pools, bless him
His brother Jo is fighting now
For the rights to the oil
It's all about his rights
For everything
There are countries that don't have
Rights, but that cannot be helped
As they don't have anything to give
But love, and Tom's wife knows
That ain't enough
Sure this is another dig
At American megalomania
When will I learn
Nobody cares
Enough to listen
Only the weak the tired and the weary
And what use are they to me?

Grass roots expression of grass roots reality. The term usually has positive connotations for me; but in this, the reverse. Well and simply done, Jiminy. Charity, good cause, and human rights drive a few, but this is the bleak and sad reality of what makes the big wheels turn. The rhetorical question.
