Oh, dear, John... this is sad, depressing, and permeated by feelings of loneliness and hopelessness. I know you intended it that way or it wouldn't be. I have half a mind to give you the other half of a thought to balance this one. Did someone say, "Hey, John. Why don't you write a mood piece?"... because you certainly did.

Well, dang those papers on the table, anyway... covering up those hopes and dreams. Time to clear the table.
How's about the other, half of a thought, now? A hope-filled piece... the same couple... a way out of those doldrums and from under the trash heap? Interlocking hearts, so to speak, those two pieces.
