Thursday Night in Bridgend

Not sure if this is the best place for this but last night (Thursday) I wasn't on strike and had been in the office all day.
I visitted "The Railway" in Bridgend for a quick pint or twelve dozen after work. As it happened it was Jam Night and so I decided to go and ask the artistes for my normal requests (Sex Pistols, Rammstein, Tom Waits, Mary Black, etc) I was absolutely gobsmacked when one of those partaking said they would do "Hallelujah" and, while it wasn't Leonard, it was a more than acceptable alternative to chatting up the barmaid.
I have asked for more Cohen but he reckoned it would take a week or two to learn Iodine and he couldn't do a Cohen song he actually liked!
Maybe if there were a few more of us there LC could become the must do covers

John! Did you go to The Railway expecting to meet me, Rob and Wendy? I have just frantically checked my emails, to make sure it is not I who am mis-reading my own words.
I suggested a small meet-up of us South Wales Cohenites for March 8th! When you Rob and Wendy got back to me about a meet, and Tim also said he might well make it, I thought it would be good to give a few weeks' notice.
The funny thing is, Rob emailled the day before yesterday, mentioning about the predicted snow. He had thought the meet was this week, too. When I emailled him back saying I'd suggested March 8th, he quipped how miserable it would have been to be the only person to turn up at a Leonard Cohen meet.
If he hadn't thought to say something about the possible disruption to travel cos of the snow, he would have joined you, and you could have been alone together.
I am glad someone at least played Hallelujah for you, and I know you are on good terms with the barmaids in The Railway. Seems you had a good evening anyway.
Sorry about the mix-up John, if mix-up there be. I will definitely see you in a month's time. Much looking forward to it. Looking forward to the LC covers too.
Gotta see the funny side.

And just to ensure that none of the rest of you think that I was too drunk to read the suggestion from Diane - it was just that the Trains were running late and it was the most convenient place to go

So glad you're coming, Margaret. I think one other person is also coming from across the border. I'd love it if we get some last minute surprise guests.
Don't all rush at once

I was checking train times for Thursday on the internet, and the following warning came on screen;
Note: Certain combinations of outward and return journeys would result in you needing to leave your destination before arriving at it.
I'll try to not get one of those combinations, see you Thursday.

We'd love to say Hi to you too, Dick. I'm sure we'll meet again, some sunny day.
Dear John, we are still waiting for you. We had a lively discussion last night, despite having our ears assaulted by persons who were unable to reach us with their "music"

. Rob has now fallen asleep behind the bar, Tim has disappeared with a bottle of whiskey, and Margaret and myself have just returned from a breath of air by the sea. Please get here soon, because Tim is starting to doubt your existence.
