Returning to Hydra

Being asked about future locations for the gathering, many have suggested that there is no better place than Hydra. Maybe not, but I think we should not stop our efforts to find inspirations and memories and happiness in other places, too ! But why not come back to Hydra in the years in between our official events, just let's name a weekend and each and everyone can try to plan vacations around the date, a week or two, just to sit in the harbour together and relax and sing and having fun. At least Nikitas would appreciate this idea.

Hi Henning,
hope you are well. I can't tell you how galling it is to beat you 5-1 and then see you in the Final instead of us. However i may yet have the last laugh when the Brazilians beat you 5-1 too!
Anyway, i think it is the best idea yet. Jarkko suggested something not too dissimilar in the chat last week. I would be quite happy keeping the event on Hydra, but that really will limit the participants and the potential to grow the event. I was even thinking about a thread such as this myself. My only concern was getting enough people with guitars to make it work, but i guess we just got our first!
Well, no matter how few or how many you get for this count me in. I found the stuff on the harbour and the open mic the best bits of the event and so this seems perfect to me.
Bye for now.

We should just all move to Hydra and live homelessly ever after......

As I was unable to get to Hydra on this occasion, having seen the photos from those who went and also in one of LC's songbooks, it would be nice to go there one day and to meet up with some of the people here. And on top of that the sun always seems to be shining there!

Henning & Partisan!
I'm with you guys! Hydra in between official event years would be lovely! Especially if we can coerce people like Joe Way, Richard Faber, Sam Sebban, JAN-ERIK!, and even Martha Wainright to join us with their guitars and voices. I wonder if Nich-o-las the waiter will still be there to dance for us and bring us endless drinks?? And what about Roger Green?? Hee hee heeee!!

Dem posted the following on the newsgroup. Does anyone else think this might be a good time to be there next year?

...is the peak of the festival "Miaoulia" in honor of the Hydrian
captain Andreas Miaoulis (those of the participants who visited the
Historical Museum will remember about him).
Tonight in the harbor of Hydra a redo of a naval battle will take
place at the end of which a replica of a Turkish flagship will be set
on fire.
These events take place every year in Hydra celebrating the Greek
National Independence War of 1821.

(This is my first attempt - so I hope it works!)
Henning (you champion)
I really liked your suggestion about a regular rendezvous at Hydra for holidays. However, I don't think I could make it very often, unless I swim/row there!
(I guess I'll just have to be content with my routine Hydro-therapy at the local acquatic centre.

)
