Hydra meetup 2007??

As you may have noted I have changed the title of this section to "Hydra 2007, 2005 & 2002". Henning inspired me to add next year. He has suggested that it would be nice to have another informal meetup on the island in June 2007. It would take place in the second week(end) in June -- a period from Monday June 4 to Sunday June 10th. It would not be one of our big events - on the contrary, no program, no participation fee and no registration but hanging around. Just come and go as you wish. Are there any who would like to attend this kind of small-scale gathering?

Jarkko

PS. Roger Green promised last time to be our walking tour guide to the lighthouse at the other end of the island (with s stop at the convent). Anybody ready to accept the challenge?

This sounds wonderful, depending on how it conjuncts with any/all of Leonard's possible tour/stops. The other end of the island trek was made by Ksenia  . Will depend on the condition of ME as to how inviting that possibility will be :? ... the monastery alone was a challenge. Per Ksenia, the trek to/from the end of the island was an all-day affair; with youth on her side, she was still totally exhausted. Perhaps, living on Hydra has left Roger in really good shape 8) . Meanwhile, the nuns were very welcoming to Ksenia and her personal guide, and they love visitors, which they very seldom get.
. . . no program . . .
Well, barring the fact that Jarkko is a born organizer, of course  ... perhaps, "no [official] program" would work better here :) .

If I don't even get to this meeting, I'm not going to talk with myself anymore! I've been wishing to come ever since 2002 (and definitely after Berlin!); it would really be a dream come true. Thank you, Jarkko and Henning, you gave me a reason to look forward to the next year. But of course, the most important question still is if, or when, or where LC is going to tour. Did the choosing of the date for the Hydra meeting consider this? (I'm hoping for some inside information here, he he!)

Yes, we have paid attention to this prospect, too. It is highly unlikely that a tour would take place [at that time]. Also, this is just a tentavive thread posted only to find out whether there are members who might be interested! No decisions made yet!!!

I'm absolutely in favor for having a 2007 Hydra meet-up!!! If possible, I'd like to join the club next year. I really enjoyed Berlin and I have been feeling bad about not going to Hydra and NY... So Hydra 2007 seems perfect!

Perhaps I can start preparing the Ghent 2014 Event there...

Take care,
Maarten

We would love to visit Hydra again in June :D We recently spent a lot of time researching flight options after receiving a gift from Wybe and Willy. Right now there is no easy flight to Athens from a local airport but we are hoping this will change!

Add Dar to the list of attendees for Hydra June 2007. I've been planning a return to Europe and I'll just add Greece to this go round. Good!

I am in.

(I missed Hune 2005 meet up in the very last moment, but after Berlin experience, I will try to come. Of course, I guess final decisions will be made in Spring 2007. It seems *very* far away as I live from day to day in this current period of my life.)

Also, it's time to try out that crazy train Venice-Zagreb-Belgrade-Macedonia-Thessaloniki which is - according to many friends - the most unique Balkan experience.

This is definitely something to consider.

Megan and I can go on the list.

I'm also seriously considering this - the added attraction for me is that my son Tim (who is currently studying in France) is likely to still be in Europe and so might join me there as well. 8) (Some of you will remember he joined me/us on Hydra late in August and also really enjoyed it - so, as well as his father, he's hooked now!) :D

Cheers :)
