Least of all you

If I drifted like swirling smoke
into a lifeless sky
If I vanished from beneath a petal
like early morning dew
would anybody notice
least of all you
If in silence I walked past you
wearing the rambling shoes of the dead
far from weary roads travelled
would my feet echo
through the flames of ragged, burning pages?
Through the smoke
would a new day rise
Would you mourn the loss of a love that rages?
If a storm could break the spine of a man
could a man find the strength
to hold onto
what he percieved as real?
A man cannot live in the dreams of yesterday
In particular the ones that never came true
The ones that always seemed to be shattered
by a certain kind of love
shattered beyond what anyone would notice
least of all you
into a lifeless sky
If I vanished from beneath a petal
like early morning dew
would anybody notice
least of all you
If in silence I walked past you
wearing the rambling shoes of the dead
far from weary roads travelled
would my feet echo
through the flames of ragged, burning pages?
Through the smoke
would a new day rise
Would you mourn the loss of a love that rages?
If a storm could break the spine of a man
could a man find the strength
to hold onto
what he percieved as real?
A man cannot live in the dreams of yesterday
In particular the ones that never came true
The ones that always seemed to be shattered
by a certain kind of love
shattered beyond what anyone would notice
least of all you
