New edition of Matisse-Cohen's Dance Me To The End Of Love

10 years ago, Welcome Books published the star of its Art & Poetry Series, Dance Me to the End of Love, a deliriously romantic song by Leonard Cohen that was brilliantly visualized through the sensual paintings of Henri Matisse. Now for its 10-year anniversary, Welcome is thrilled to present the entirely re-imagined and redesigned Dance Me to the End of Love. With the art of Matisse and the words of Cohen still at the heart of the book, the new look and feel of this Art & Poetry book is overwhelmingly beautiful.
Cohen's song is a lyrical tribute to the miracle of love, the grace it bestows on us and its healing, restorative power. Originally recorded on his Various Positions album, and featured in Cohen's anthology, Stranger Music, this poetic song is gloriously married to the art works by Henri Matisse, perhaps the greatest artist of the twentieth century. "I had this dance within me for a long time," Matisse once said in describing one of his murals. Dance Me to the End of Love is the perfect book for art lovers, song lovers, and all other lovers as well.

I need some clarification. I thought this was 'new' or "new" ~ however, it looks the same on the outside and when I go to the Amazon link, it shows "21 used and new available from $12.32" ~ so what's the real deal with it? If it's 'new' or "new," there hasn't been time for there to already be "21 used" ~ what am I missing? Obviously, something :? .

"20" now ~ did you order a "used" edition, Dick?

No-- I ordered the new
The info was repeated on amazon that this is a revised edition --- if its not, I've still got a nice gift for someone. :-)

I have the first edition, and I ordered also the new one. They claim it's "entirely re-imagined and redesigned". Used copies and "Look Inside" option are reffering, I guess, to 1996 edition.
In my humble opinion, it's best art/poetry book with Leonard's poetry. But I like Matisse very much, so...

I'll write more about differences between first and second edition when I get this one (if there's any difference - from what I can see on Amazon, cover art is the same, but in slightly different letters and colours' nuances)... And - as Dick said - if not, I'll also have the best Cohen-related gift for someone (but the new one, as my first copy is inscribed /it was very special gift from US in pre-internet time, personally delivered over the Atlantic/.)

Yesterday, in another thread, someone mentioned Jack Vettriano's painting Dance Me To The end Of Love. I didno't hear about it before, but funny thing was that later that day I received package from Amazon, and inside they put catalogue from allposters.com site, and that painting was printed inside, so it's obviously going very well.

I love this painting. So real to life. I much prefer it to Vettriano's.

Thanks for posting it, Tom.

Got the new book from amazon yesterday --- am very pleased. It is same size, and some pics are the same, but color and new typefonts are impressive, some new pics, and bio has been updated to mention "Dear Heather" and "Book of Longing."

I think it is well worth the price!

Edvard Munch paints murk that somehow works—steel grays, dark roses, jaundice yellows; he is able to choose colors that seem to translate from hospital smells. Even the landscapes reek with this pollution of mood. This is a depressive expressionism, but still full of remarkable wit, intelligence, and, at moments, hilarity. He even paints himself as Christ on the cross. Munch is a spiritual forbear of Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Leonard Cohen, tender ironists all.
