The Age of Rage

The age of rage is now
Why now? Why at all?

Some say it’s modernisation
Technology was supposed
To liberate and save time
But it eats into the day

Others argue it’s industrialisation
We don’t own our own time
We’re all powerless
And because of that – frustrated

So many working meaningless jobs
In a meaningless world
What are we here for?
The eternal question

All we know for sure
Is to sleep, eat and shit
Wherever was the mention
Of large chunks of time
Sitting at a desk
Sending letters to people
We don’t know
And would rather not

It’s like we draw out the rage
That washes our faces red
And shakes our system
Striking instantly
Like a cyclone
Wreaking havoc
Then leaves us
To deal with the mess

If you thought
That no cyclone
Could be borne
Of a hamburger
With a pickle in it
When you clearly said
To hold the pickle
Then welcome to this age

Some rage torn lives
End up in courts
Or hospitals
Or prisons
If we’re lucky
We’ll recover
And be no worse off
Than before it struck

It comes from nowhere
Out of nothing
But can cause
A heap of damage

Great example :) ... especially "When you clearly said . . . "

Road rage, too. What you're questioning is really there... and quite difficult to identify its true origin, but it seems to me certainly inclusive of the elements you've noted.
