From Last Month's Loisaida Festival in NYC: Tuli Kupferberg of the Fugs sings the world's first hymn to nationalism, "Let them all go to hell except Cave 64" and Jeffrey Lewis, anti-folk star performs his own composition, "A History of Punk on Lower East Side 1950-1975" Backstage in the dark he finds Paul Thornton of the Godz, another legendary Lower East Side 60's band ( My first internet video shot without a tripod, encoded in France). Enjoy.

Headphones on and ready to go ~ and this is the pop-up I got from my computer at work because I don't have sound at home. Good heavens, who makes these content-category decisions, anyway??
The link you are accessing has been blocked by Barracuda Spyware Firewall because it contains filtered content, the content belongs to the category of: porn

If you believe this is an error or need to access this link please contact your Center Manager who may submit a change request to IT.
I hope there's not a red light flashing and big bell clanging somewhere alerting I.T. that "Elizabeth tried to access a porn site" .

This is definitely not pornography. Tuli's piece is social satire with no sexual content. Jeff sys the F word a few times in a quoted song, nothing more than that. What a laugh!!!!! I will have to tell this Dav in France who sent it to rapidshare. He's looking for another place to put it.

I'm wondering, too, if that's a standard blurb that covers a WHOLE wide range of things... if our I.T. considers any attempts to access 'other' locales on the web [outside of a brief few] as "porn"!?! I've never bothered to read the blurb, just kept going as soon as I saw it had been blocked because that's happened districtwide with a lot of things. Apparently, some really have been accessing porn sites... so rather than chance anything, they've arranged for a very narrow window for what is/isn't acceptable. That's why I was wondering who makes these determinations. Even so, it's probably not a bad idea to search for elsewhere to make it available.

rapidshare does have a lot of porn. So maybe that's why. It also has rock videos.

Ahh... okay, then. That connection makes sense. Our I.T.s would instruct in that direction, then... I don't know if companies tailor their accounts with Barracuda or if it's a stock package, but I can see how this could've occurred now. Thanks for the info.

What does IT stand for?

I think "I.T." is Information Technology or Information Technician or perhaps they use just one T to stand for Information Technology Technician.

Jeff really does an amazing job of chronology and Live sampling 8) . It's not my style of music [except listening to it in person, of course... which is always an experience, as the energy, visuals, and body/facial language tend to be amazing.

I really appreciated hearing Tuli talk/recite. I remember him from my first The Fugs album :D . Then, at the end, hearing my dear friend Lightning's no-escape questioning was a major treat 8) !

Thanks for posting this, Lightning. I'm glad I finally got to listen.

Love,
Lizzy

I think IT stands for Internet Technician, or in this case Internet Technology. All the same, no one knows but them.

I think you can re-set your firewall to enable content that might be considered 'graphic', it may be under the 'parental controls' settings. The default might be set for a very general G. Or, it could be one of those useless errors that keep popping up for no good reason at all. I hope that helped. :)

Hi Linda ~

It no doubt would help, if I were dealing with my own computer on it. However, since it's the one at my job, I don't want to enable or disable anything away from wherever its current status was set  . In the end, not worth the risk  . Thanks for the 'how to' on it, regardless.

When I get my home computer working properly again, I'll enable and disable to my heart's content.

Yeah, that "IT" business has never been fully clear to me. I wonder if it's used differently by some than by others. For me, the general arena is clear, but the particular stall has never been.

Yes, that IT business, for me, just falls under the heading of 'techie'. Which is unfortunate for me, as I'd like to learn more about computers, but these things are too frustrating to get close to. Better to leave them in the shadows. Along with the manuals.

Yes ~ With me, "IT" brings words like "techie," "geek," and "guru" to mind.
Along with the manuals.

 I forgot about those ~ there's probably one around here, somewhere, too.
Someone here once recently said something about me using the search engine on this site. I've never even gotten the hang of it! There will probably always be more in the shadows than in the sunshine when it comes to me and computers  .

"Need to know" basis seems to work best for me... and even then, I have to make the explainer slow down to a crawl, so I can write down the process, step by step by step... including baby steps, in that if I encounter anything not already specifically addressed, I come to a screeching or grinding halt [depending on the situation] and become frozen in place, unable to proceed  . So, I'm not surprized I don't know the exact meaning of "IT" .

It wasn't that long ago [not quite 5 years] that I kept revising a letter I was trying to write, and kept having to do it over and over and over again... and when I spoke with Jarkko about it, he said something about "cut and paste/copy and paste" and I said, "Do what!?!"

There's still some deep level of resistance to it all, I guess. It becomes very overwhelming, very quickly. Even so, all things considered, "You've come a long way, [Lizzy]."
