Has anyone listened to the new cd? It has a very sparse backing and some really good tracks.

I like it a lot. Good, minimalistic production by Don Was to go with well written songs of Kris. Worked out perfectly.

I was thinking of buying this for my husband, he hasn't had anything new by Kristofferson for a long time. I was able to listen to some short clips from the album on the net, it sounds pretty good.

It IS really good even though the dead-country-stars-namedropping can be a little too much.

... and who are you to say  ?

Perhaps the statement has come from someone who has actually heard the songs and who can therefore give an informed opinion. And no, I don't want the luxury of a twenty line reply - or even any reply, although I am sure one will be forthcoming!

It may be, a bit. But then again, it's his friends we're talking about. It's a thing too personal for us to judge, I think.

Thank you, Tom, for identifying the "you" who said. I agree with your take on the "namedropping," Shane... as a lasting tribute to friends lost.

As a motivating force, you overestimate yourself. I do note, however, that there was apparently a compulsion on your part to comment. Meanwhile, you missed the joke, entirely.

I will remember to log in the next time I comment on Kris :D
Very good album.
Especially the track "Chase The Feeling".

"...compulsion....to comment". "...missed the joke".

Do I smell irony in the air?

Irony is something that's perceived, but not olfactorily. Even if so, the present air is too stuffy and polluted for it to permeate.

Nice to see that you appreciate the atmosphere. Thanks for the speedy and short reply. Perhaps we can now get back to the topic. You may care to comment on some of the tracks, that is if you have heard them.

I find the album's title is quite applicable to your stagnant approach, Tony.

Perhaps, as moderator of this thread, you can corral the others in returning to its original topic. My frivolity was never intended in that regard, nor was it contingent upon having heard a single track [you may understand that phenomenon, Mr. Tony-on-Topic  ]. Nice of you to try barring the door... but, alas.

Even at this extent, 12 lines have yet to appear... so as a motivating force, you're still not there. Nothing here is quite so predictable [not a Cayce issue  ] as my replying, at will; and at length, when willed. So, motivating force, psychic, or guard... you appear to be none. I know you'll keep expending that futile energy, anyway.
