Poem N:

Of fragrance

The faded letter
is binding me
inviting me
engaging me
to its fragrance
to its fragrance
to its candid tapestry
of seduction
betrothal
betrayal
and weakness.
The waxed seal
is melting my resilience
exposing my veneer
breaking my scent
with its fragrance
with its fragrance
with its textured weave
of chastity
grandiose humility
and fulfilment.
The hidden sentences
lie dishonestly
questioning forgiveness
dividing acceptance
pursuing promises
of fragrance
of fragrance
and frailty
and destiny
unkempt
dissolved
and discarded.
The lost years
remain virgin
buried
and dusted
by fragrance
by fragrance
dispersing
my want
my curiosity
my courtesy
my love.

Hi~

I found the repetitive lines/phrasing very interesting. An unconventional approach. It has a real forward rolling motion. You can't pause while reading it. The sparse-ness makes this a pleasantly succinct read.

thanks,
Laurie

The fragrance is repeated so often you can almost smell it. The quick pace adds a certain urgency. I think the poem is highly evocative and I like it very much. Thanks.

At one time I lived for another letter that smelled of her and this brings back many memories. Do some people still use scented stationary? This poem is so easy to read and understand and flows wonderfully. And it is sad to think that in the end even love is dispersed, gets weaker like the fragrance as time passes but is still, even if barely or even if imagined, there.
