UPDATED "Old Love Letters" Poetry Comp. Deadline

Please Note: the deadline has been changed from 2/24 to 2/28
Hi~
If you don't already know there is a poetry competition going on. The topic is:
Old Love Letters
That specific phrase does not have to be the title, in the title or even in the body of the poem.
The winning poem, (along with the winning short story from the short story comp) will be printed in the Berlin booklet.
You can enter as many poems as you'd like.
Do NOT post your poems on the forum. What you need to do is send them via PM to Lizzytysh. She has volunteered to be the interthingy (intermediary). Lizzy will pass the poems anonymously to me for judging.
Since this topic has been floated out there for over a week now, I figured another week should be enough time for those wanting to enter a poem to get something poetic written and passed onto Lizzy.
So the deadline is:
Tuesday, February 28th 11pm Eastern Standard time (east coast usa)
Please PM your work to Lizz before that time next week.
Have fun.
Good luck.
Oh yeah, the judge can be bribed. All it will take is proof that you have purchased me a mini-cooper and have made arrangements to have it shipped to me here to Alaska and the winning poem is yours!! A small price to pay to have your poem published in the Berlin booklet.
Otherwise, it will be a fair, anonymous bit of judging on my part...may the best poem win! (IMHO)
regards,
Laurie

Hi Laurie and Lizzy. Thanks for saving the day, both.
Laurie, I have a bit of a problem cos I am away from tomorrow night until late next Sunday 26th. I will be miles from the nearest computer, and will be unable to enter the comp unless you extend the deadline at least until Monday 27th. If that cuts things too fine for you then no probs; I'll have to save my hidden talents for another day.

Hi Diane ~
That's Laurie's call. All I have to do is send them on... pretty easy, eh? However, judging and comparing and judging them all fairly is another matter.
Muuuuuuuuch more time-consuming. No idea what all went into her date decision, but with an upcoming, big trip and her job, there may be some time constraints going on there.
So, all I can say is that it's fine with me and would give people an additional weekend to focus, but that's all I can say ~ well, of course, except that I'd love for you to be able to enter the comp. How about mailing it

? Is it nearly ready or not even begun?
Well... I'll wait with you to hear. Good luck, my dear... perhaps, your debutante party will need to be delayed, but good luck, my dear.
Love,
Lizzy

No problem, Laurie... I'd already said an extension was fine with me, anyway... and an additional day makes no difference on that.
So, Yes ~ Tuesday, 11 PM, on the 28th is perfect for me, in fact.
***********************************************************
NOW ~ A Request from Me to all Submitters:
Please send your poem ~ first time around ~
WITH A TITLE [as Laurie said, it doesn't have to meet any particular criteria with regard to the poetry comp theme].
I've received one poem so far, and it DOES have a title. However, in the first Comp, I was having to write some people back, asking for one, and then awaiting it, and then sending it on to Laurie... some never did respond, and the waiting was a, well, you know, a pain.
So, please... just do it justice first time out and give it a name

, as you would any child

. Thanks

!

Congratulations, Diane

~ Another great example of, "You won't know unless you ask... and it can't hurt to try."
< * you probably have dozens out there thanking you

Thanks, Laurie!
Cheers, Lizzy. I guess I could have posted it to you in Florida, but I wouldn't have fancied my chances of making the deadline that way either

You got that right, Diane

! Even when you pay the extra postage, all it seems to buy is the item taking twice as long, as what you paid for, to arrive. I'm finding that out with the Christmas gifts I sent. Not that they had a prayer for being on time, anyway... not when they don't get sent until January

.

Likely I am still in my permanent state of confusion but didn't I read a recent posting that you only had one entry? Surely this isn't true and now I can't find it anyhow. How many have you received? Anyhow, I hope many will send in last minute entries even if there have been a large number already. Maybe a message about the contest closing time in the 'News' forum would get some new responses?

Hi Nightstalker ~
It's as many entries as a person wishes to submit. The more the better. I have not received many to date; however, past experience shows that people seem to adore deadlines and the adrenaline that comes with cozying up to them.
Iiiiiii don't know about posting something in the News section... it's Leonard-related [sort of], given the Berlin Event booklet... however, I would think that someone inclined to enter would visit this section, at least enough to notice the posts about a Poetry Competition. If Laurie opts to post something in the News section, fine... however, I'm more disinclined to do that myself. Fine with me, either way, in the end.
