i just returned yesterday from a week on a farm in north sao paulo.it was an amazing time.

it all happens at midnight
when the fugitive fishes bite
and if you cock your head just right
your blindness will give way to sight

you can hear the trees ranting
the night lovers panting
the grass is a sea
and the sand is now me

twelve rotten apples singing
twelve bitter bells ringing
twelve battered bricks breathing
twelve ageless mountians teething

and the jackles of night
that instinctively bite
carress my body tight
and sweaten my plight

the air is a living thing
as i am lifted by its wing
i listen to its mime
i am at that time

That time

Elazar, I have read this several times over a few hours. The final sentence summons up the self knowledge that we are all in a state of existence. The time spent away from mammon can be a journey of self discovery. That discovery being the profound insight into acknowledging your own essence in this world. I am not good at latin, but I understand that, cogito ergo sum, means, I think therefore I am. However, I am lead to believe that a variation on that thought is, suspiro ergo sum, which I'm told means, I sigh therefore I am. And for me, you have captured the latter latin variation. Thank you. Best regards, Byron.
