Empty-Viktor Kruyanken

Why is your smile so empty?
Your eyes too
Maybe just maybe
There's nothing left inside of you.

You gave so much
Your smile
Your touch
More than you had to give
And now you're drained
Of love and pain
And it's back to the beginning again

This is a haunting, sad one, Stimpy. It reminds me of a phrase that gets used about someone [in this case a woman] that, "She looks all used up" or "They used her up and threw her away." It reminds me of Leonard's song, "Nancy" and of Harry Chapin's, "They Call Her Easy."

Hello stimpy. The voice is the voice of a true friend. Seeing and also feeling the emptiness in the friend as life leaves the friend wasted. Not wasted as in the modern parlance, but wasted as in bereft of all that was there before. Friends such as this are few and far between, so the piece has a glimmer of possible hope, for the friend, and for us.
We've all been there, as either the 'victim' of circumstance and life, or as the friend. How we perceive others is what makes us greater than the sum of our parts.
The poem says so much more than words. I thank you for bringing it. It certainly made me stop and think. :?
