The enigma that is Geoffrey

some may have formed the erroneous view that Geoffrey and I are not the closest of friends. How wrong. Only last week I visited him in Norway and he allowed me to release to the public the first photographic image of himself. He was just finishing his lunch-time war dance.

Is that the original Norwegian Wood?

I once knew a Geoff, or should I say, Geoff once knew me.
He showed me his willy, isn’t it good, norwegian wood?
He asked me to stay and he told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking his wine.
We talked until two and then he said, it’s time for bed.
He told me he worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told him I didn’t and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke I was alone, this Geoff had flown.
So I lit a fire, isn’t it good, norwegian wood.

So,
this is the original. The covers have taken liberties with its content

I agree. I was paid £5 for these lyrics, written the morning after Geoffrey and I first "stayed" together. I always worried whether the slang expression "wood" was known in America or whether its use limited the appeal of the song.
Anyway, it eventually earnt me a platinum disc and I remember how Geoffers and I celebrated at this debauched nightclub. Ahhh, but that was a long time ago and I'm sure no-one wants to know what we did that fateful, mysterious, and fascinating night...

In fact, it's
not known, at least here, that
I know of, so its popularity-index may, in
fact, be compromised. I figured it out, via context only. But, hey... I have time for that, y'know

. Perhaps, others will be too busy. What a pitiful amount of change you were paid for such brilliance

for those lacking LIzzy's experience in this area, the first slang dic(tionary) I found on a google search included "wood / woody Noun. An erect penis"

LIzzy's experience in this area
Yes, context of the written word can reveal much

. You just need to pay attention and remain aware of whose writing you're reading
