Too Many Parties And Too Many Pals

Too many parties and too many pals wrecked much
and left me shell-shocked and held in deep disdain.
But I was forever willing to abide by their touch
robbing me of my life by inches I cannot reclaim.
They protest that they have aided me many times
though I often fail to recognize any such assistance.
I have remained silent about their countless crimes
for a hunger which they cannot keep at a distance.

Too many parties and too many pals left me weary
in such a profound way it is difficult to describe.
I looked upon my cadre of brothers with a dreary,
stereotypical bitterness that I refused to proscribe.
Those men are not worth my hatred or my rage,
they still stagger blindly through a land I know.
You present your concerns on a frivolous stage
and I dare not ask where it is that you want to go.
