Antony

I just watched a concert on BBC 4 filmed earlier this year with Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons) He is quite a unique performer, and resembles an angel when he talks or smiles. He sang the most amazing version of "The Guests" which must surely rival Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah as one of the very best Cohen covers ever. He then talked briefly about the Hal Wilmer Tribute show in Australia where he performed Cohen. I hope "The Guests" is one of the items on the forthcoming DVD called I'm your man.

For any British insomniacs the concert is being repeated later at 1.45 am on the digital channel BBC4

Back to The Guests, according to the trailer, in the documentary itself we will see only Antony's If It Be Your Will (each artist = one song; we also will get Martha Wainwright's The Traitor, instead of Tower of Song, what could be more expected due to critics' response).
I guess only hope to see The Guests is if the complete show would be added to the DVD release. I hope for that, really.

Did Antony performed The Guests in Brighton? Because I have the 3CD recording somewhere in the house, but without tracklist.

PS. I learned it hard way, Anthony/Antony. There's famous literary critic Antony Easthope - I wrote his name Anthony ten times in one article I published  :?

I was at the Sunday night performance at Brighton but Antony was not part of the show then. He only appeared when the show went to Australia. His version of the Guests was like a hymn. Very beautiful.

A copy of the Brighton recording would be appreciated, Tom :)

Antony only performs "If It Be Your Will" in the film. It is amazing, but I would have liked to have heard him do The Guests, too.

Nick Cave and Rufus do two songs each. Martha does backup for Rufus on a song so she does more than one song.

It was such a great movie. I want to see it again!
