Like I said, short.

Dear Ev....I'm reading, and rereading, and I know I'm going to get it....any minute now. I'm trying to get the sense of "first"....as in first, versus second; first, as in first love; first, as in the beginning, but it fades later; or first, as in prerequisite? If you help me out on that, I bet I'll get it sooner. Thanks.

I didn't know it needed that much explaining-- it's not that deep, try taking it at face value. Just a minimalist expression of people who are carried away with love not knowing what they love.

Now, I didn't say it was "deep" [just, by implication, "confusing"]. Unfortunately, "face value" depends on the face value of the words.....of which "first" has several, as noted.
OK, so now I'm guessing you mean those who are in love with love, vs. those who love.

Ev,
Puleeze. Unless you are a sixteen-year-old genius - Wait a few years before instructing the world on the subject of love. And if you are going to post your poetry you've got to be tough enough to take the constructive thoughts and (yes, sometimes criticisms). Besides, Lizzytysh was just being kind to you.
well...

I guess I just figured people would take it for that... and yes, you got it =). The real way to tell if two people are in love with eachother, and not with love, is to watch them when one of them does something to hurt the other. A harsh word, or action... something that offended them, or criticizm.. what's the other one. Do they respond with another harsh word?
I know I have...
And I know a lot of people who do.
To me, that is not true love.
But then again I'm only 16.

To "A thought for you":
"Puleeze. Unless you are a sixteen-year-old genius - Wait a few years before instructing the world on the subject of love."
I would think one would know that in dealing with love age can be quite relative. There are many who never know anything regarding love, regardless of their age.
"And if you are going to post your poetry you've got to be tough enough to take the constructive thoughts and (yes, sometimes criticisms)."
What? Eh, I don't see what you're trying to say, if she was trying to be nice to me, why are you trying(in your own lovely condescending way) to advise me on how to take criticism? Very amusing, to say the least. I happen to like criticism... it seems you do too-- giving it out at least. =)
"Besides, Lizzytysh was just being kind to you."
I know, I was just trying to explain it. I don't think my poetry is so great, I said it wasn't deep.
Ev
okay...

I was cut short on my last post, I had to leave the computer before I got a chance to fully respond.
I do like criticisms of the contructive kind, but I don't particularly like ad homonym criticisms. I personally think criticism of poetry should be based the poetry itself and not the author's age, race, religion etc.

Hi Ev,
You're only 16? Seriously, was that mentioned somewhere already, and I never saw it, or just forgot; or is that just a number picked out of the air to make a point? You haven't come across as being "only" 16.
I'm glad I got it. Of course, as poor a practice as snapping back in like fashion with someone we 'love' can be, doing so does not invalidate the love that's shared. Now, that would be my opinion....
Well, however old you are, I had to look up ad hominem. I'm guessing that you weren't considering my comments as being in that category. I'm glad you understand I wasn't trying to be mean-spirited, just to understand what you were trying to say [or saying].

No! I wasn't referring to you at all in that comment. Thanks for you kind words-- it was my lack of clarity that presented the problem in the first place.
