hey you
you big lumbering oaf
you come here
make a ruckus
and expect me to to sit
and do nothing?

love,is my middle name
i am as loyal as they come
if we would be friends
i would protect you
till my die-ing breath

but you
you threw the first punch
and my existance
you decry and moan

didnt you ever hear
that when someone eats
out of your plate
its a sign of affection?

(im not one to brag
but they say my "honey"
tastes sweet
is that true
i personaly never tasted the stuff .yucky!)

and look i am not
tempermental,anti social
see the pictures of your fellow humans
covered in a protective armor
of my like and kind

so please understand my agitation
when i am in midst of my sacred task
of bearing love between my flower friends
would you tolerate a disturbance
during your love-making?

we put the zealots to shame
and the bear mother too
we hold an honor code so dear
and our enemies fall before us

were you not informed
we attack only in self defense
look at the butterfly
run from the childs advance
yet we go to thee
and ye knows not
we come in peace

elazar, it wasn't till the end that i "got" the buzz of what you where you were coming from. A re-read made if much better (i am slow sometimes). I especially like the "affection of plate eating" stanza. Can i use that for my "Fly" poem? Just kidding. Your "sacred task" bit is really poignant and funny at the same time. What a clever take on a poem.
A personal aside, at the ancient (crisising) age of 43 last year, i got my first 2 tatoos. One is a lovely little bee.
Another great poem. cheers, L

Marvelous poem. I can just picture the bee buzzing around the plate. And then stinging someone.

thanks for the comments laurie,ves,george
i guess i got a little extra cocky when i wrote this one :) the plate sharing thing can be interpeted as an example of overt friendlyness that can be overbearing and irritating at times.or not.

No need to explain. Just keep stinging!
