The glance

The sentences are tired,
abused.
they are broken by the noises
around,
they hit the walls and slip down

You stare at me,
and silence turns into flowing
of bright explosion

The words are now comprehensible
and they touch me
like petals taken from a red new rose,
they run over me
like the flow of a mountain stream,
and the bickering of fire when in silence are heard.

Dear Sandra ~

Your first two lines, so effective and true with regard to conflict, opened the door for me:
The sentences are tired,
abused.
You write so beautifully, so viscerally.

Your last lines speak to the beauty of reconciliation:
The words are now comprehensible
and they touch me
like petals taken from a red new rose,
they run over me
like the flow of a mountain stream,
and the bickering of fire when in silence are heard.
Of these final lines, the most poignant and tender for me:
The words are now comprehensible
and they touch me
like petals taken from a red new rose,

You have chosen for your signature more words of Rumi's that I love. They are also on one of the two tapes I'll be sending Diane. Might you be interested in receiving copies, too? I really feel you'll like the sincerity in Coleman's voice when he reads them. Simply reading them, I can hear him clear as a bell.

Steven ~ If you're around, might you also be interested? If you don't answer, I'll ask you in the other section.

Thank you, Sandra, for writing and placing your poem here. I was really in the mood and state of mind for reading something like this.

It's a very fitting place for Rumi and his quote to appear, in conjunction with your poem :) .

Yes, I do, Sandra. It eliminates the confusion of the meanings of the two words 'fighting' each other, and now I can easily follow the course of events, and your description of how the power of a stare, at a time like that, can create really beautiful results. I like it even better now :D .

You're welcome :) .
