Short Story Comp. on Poetry Forum

Post by Critic2 »

1000 words max. topic "Living next door to Leonard Cohen". deadline October 3rd (but in the past we have extended by a week or so).

Prize- publication in the Berlin Event booklet.

Come on over to the poetry forum and join us. We have a hot judge, a hot interthingy (to ensure anonymity of competitors), lots of lovely people, (and one idiot troll called Glory Hog)

regards

1000 words. It's a perfect length for our parody. This is the kind of thing that's right up our alley. Can't wait to see it in German. We are going to win....aren't we?

exactly. but if my post here draws in any more entries then perhaps the Judge and Interthingy should consider an extension of a week.

Given the 'stakes,' I couldn't agree more......even if no more interest is generated, those who do enter are going to want/need that extra time to hone and finely tune their entries.

October 3rd seems too soon a deadline for a 1000 word story....or maybe it's just a busy time of year for me.
It's not the number of words that is daunting..it's the choice and order of them :)

 ~ Hey, who knows, it might be the perfect story ~ "Living next to Leonard" might be exactly like that ~ 1,000 words thrown onto a page  .

I think the deadline is too soon also.

Not that I will be writing myself, but it seems very close for those with busy working lives.

I am just now seeing this thread.

I can put with 8) a one week extension -making the deadline October 10.

Anything after that will begin to conflict with my job.

Me again~

I just took the initiative in the Poetry section to officially announce a later short story deadline.

It is now October 10.

I can be over-rid by a singular vote in this matter 8)

I just can't be judging, like I said previously, with a later date.

1000 words are the only criteria? Hope something will pop into my brain. Thanks for the challenge

No.

There is a specific subject matter: Living Next to Leonard.

This is discussed in more detail in the Poetry section.

Hope you enter, hope many enter.

just short story housekeeping stuff...

There is now an official ending "time" on the 10th.
Below is a paste of what is posted in the Poetry sections thread on this contest:

Midnight Pacific time, on the 10th.

To be most precise that would be One Minute before the clock on in the Pacific time zone turns over to 12:01 on October 11.

My reasoning is that it is most likely the westerly most time zone needed to accomodate any potential entries. Alaska is one hour earlier, but I doubt there is anyone besides me in Alaska posting and we all know I am not going to submit a story...

So...Midnight on the 10th. Pacific Time.

thx,
Laurie
