Dear Byron,
Forgive me for interrupting this serious thread (short stories, and even shorter ones), but let me congratulate you for making your 1300th post on this highly unusual board.
More importantly, who/what are "the KGT"?
Is this a competition?
I'll tell you this: when it comes down to votes (is this board a democracy?) , I will vote for you, and if I'm allowed to throw in my sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, mother-in-law (she's dead), plus my Mum and Dad (84 and 87 respectively), and a photograph of my sons, daughter and their pet pot-bellied Vietnamese pig, you will surely win this and any other competition on offer.
So go for it :D :D :D
Andrew.

Congratulations to you, Byron: #1300, and the presumed winner of this comp. - that's something.

"KGT"? "King's Generous Torturers"? (Has QE died? Or did they never accept a woman on the throne?)

Cheers to all of ye
tom

PS to Andrew: "Is this board a democracy?" Thou confusest me. Is there a democracy? Anywhere?

For those who have yet to decypher KGT, the answer will become clearer when I have been told what it means. I can release the following information....it isn't a variation on KGB. This fact came as a surprise to me and completely threw me, as the details of this tale of human endeavour, weaknesses and attempted prevarication, emerged ever so bloody slowly, from the deepest recesses of me thingie, often named as 'brain' by medical personages.

I can confirm that 1300 is roughly the age that I feel at the moment. I couldn't feel much rougher. Or perhaps I could?

As for the eventual winnist of this competition, beware the Needham of Matlock!
If the prize was a retrospective honourment of previous scribblin', then Matlock Man would have walked away with the muffins long ago............ 8)

I take there is more? Or do you need your solitude in which to write? I love a good cliff hanger...

oy, no! we do anonymousthingy here in the comps. that's the whole purpose of an interthingy who receives, caresses, but does not expose the identity of the writer before passing on to the JUDGE

And I am the interthingy!

Just pass entries on to me, I'll copy and paste them into a new email and send them along.
