A client of mine told me yesterday that he and his wife heard Emmy Lou Harris sing Cowgirls Prayer. He said they both cried. I can't find the lyrics. I don't recall this song.
I also found that Bird on a Wire, a song that use to make me cry, was in the soundtrack for "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" Great film if you like your films to be a but strange. They were very good to the book.

I was searching for the lyrics for Cowgirl's Prayer and found this .
"Leonard Cohen Documentary"

Apparently, Emmylou is one those interviewed in a documentary on Leonard Cohen currently in production that is scheduled to be broadcast on The Sundance Channel in 2006. The documentary is tentatively titled, "Came So Far From Beauty." Numerous others, including the McGarrigles, Willie Nelson, Bono, Marianne Faithfull, Rufus Wainwright, and Teddy and Linda Thompson are also scheduled to appear, either as interview subjects or in concert footage performing Leonard Cohen's songs. Hi Tri,
That looks like a good cast & something to look forward to. Pity about the ubiquitous Bono though. He seems to have, & desperately needs to express, an opinion on all things. (Oh, a bit like me - "we hate in others what we see in ourselves")
Cheers

Cowgirl's Prayer

Tri-me, is it possible that your client was referring to Ballad of a Runaway Horse, from Emmylou Harris's 1993 album, Cowgirl's Prayer? The lyrics were modified a bit from Leonard Cohen's original lyrics for Ballad of an Absent Mare (Recent Songs).

Tri-me - that's the new documentary "Leonard Cohen I'm Your Man" that will have its premiere at the Toronto film festival in September this year.

Peacemonger is right, I also think it does refer to Ballad of a Runaway Horse, somebody wrote about that Emmylou's cover here last year saying it's Leonard's song.
