here is my latest attempt.i really feel completely empty sometimes, and this is about those times.

youve put on your mask,i've put on mine
we've fallen far apart by now
and i'm as guilty or more
i gaze at you, delicate and hiding

now,everything is thorny
you were my rose,my compensation
bereft,torn and dismantled

you wanted nothing of mine
yet you took everything
my shallowness is overwellming
your deepness,in retreat manuever

return to me, my muse,my lover
my love of life,my life of love

mallencholy,go! i say! go!
return to your dark doom
your shadows of past dismay

open,o heart, the exile you have braved
sing the coal miners song
throw down your mask, for i've thrown down mine
and gravedigger....go away!

"Throw down your mask." Yes, these are profound words. If only we all would do just that. Throw down our masks that keep us from seeing and being seen.
