Tall Orders

My imagination runs hot
I dream of a warless world
the generals
the politicians
big business
in chains
I see children
the world over
eating hot soup
playing football
laughing
Parents live together
iron out problems
dance
feel the sun on their backs
the moon out,
they make love
And I hear a bird chirp
she summons up a new day
and I tune into the BBC
my illusion shattered
war greed lust power
My imagination thwarted
There can be no plan
Too many have died
So many have died
And the breeze tells me softly
yet again
'Go forward
Build the World'
And I am afraid
to make a wrong move
say the wrong thing
of slipping up
of violence
And the bird changes tune
she meets with a swallow
they sing of utopia
of Love
You insist on tall orders
I dream of a warless world
the generals
the politicians
big business
in chains
I see children
