Tall Orders

My imagination runs hot
I dream of a warless world
the generals
the politicians
big business
in chains

I see children
the world over
eating hot soup
playing football
laughing

Parents live together
iron out problems
dance
feel the sun on their backs
the moon out,
they make love

And I hear a bird chirp
she summons up a new day
and I tune into the BBC
my illusion shattered
war greed lust power
My imagination thwarted
There can be no plan
Too many have died
So many have died

And the breeze tells me softly
yet again
'Go forward
Build the World'
And I am afraid
to make a wrong move
say the wrong thing
of slipping up
of violence

And the bird changes tune
she meets with a swallow
they sing of utopia
of Love

You insist on tall orders

Dear Sandra,

The bulk of it was written in 2002. I guess it is simple yet sweet. I attempted to capture conflicting moods or feelings. And of course there must be hope... Thanks for reading

Hi Boss, (that sounded strange)

I too have been reading your poetry, and have enjoyed it. I like this one as well. But, I'm not an expert, I just like it, and can't go into any reasons why.

One thing, I am curious about, if it's not too brazen, but are you the same Boss to Boss Reallty to Boss Realty? Sorry, but the abundance of 'Boss' has me a bit confused as to who's who.

Thanks,
Linda.

Dear Linda,

Thanks for reading and enjoying my stuff.

When I chose the name 'Boss' I didn't realise there was a 'Boss Realty'. I kinda' grew to like my name though so decided to keep it (I'm not sure if you can change it anyway!).

We are different entities.

Regards Boss

Well, hi, Boss (I don't think I can say that again). I added the 'lakeside' bit when I realised there were more than one 'Linda'. I had watched the board for a couple of days to see if anyone shared my name.

Hey! You're not Bruce Springsteen are you!? Great Album! :D

See you,
Linda.

Springsteen is 'The Boss', I am simply 'Boss'. Two different things altogether, see.

Hello Boss,

Yes, I know Springsteen's 'The Boss'. I know, also, that you call yourself simply 'Boss'. It was just sort of a little light-hearted nothing comment with nothing to be read in between the lines.

Just like my name is Linda. That's all.

Linda. (yes, that was indeed, redundant).

PS: I still like your poetry.

Besides which, who the hell I am, who has never posted a poem, to criticise anyone's work? I couldn't do it. I'm glad I don't feel the complusion to do so.

Regards,
Linda.
