As time goes by —

... and she's there where the light and the darkness divide...

If we don't know that there is good and bad, and what they are, we can't choose our side (admitting that sides can be chosen).
If we don't know that there is knowing about good and bad and not-knowing, we can't choose between knowing and innocence.
But once we know, we can't choose innocence any more. Both ways:
Innocence cannot be chosen.

The strange thing is that at rare moments we meet people who know and yet are innocent too, who are graced with a kind of innocence of the long road.

With luck, our ears might be open at such a time, and we might be able to listen.

Hi Jean - It's good to see you here. Interesting how innocence wins out. I like your exploration of it.
