Withey: Cohen’s Corner Cafe bookshop a labour of love for Edin Viso
BY ELIZABETH WITHEY, EDMONTON JOURNAL JUNE 18, 2015
Fifteen years later, Viso is giving his bookshop dream a second go, this time in Edmonton’s Strathearn neighbourhood. Tucked in at the end of a strip mall at 9552 87th St., Cohen’s Corner Café was named in honour of the legendary Canadian musician and writer.

“Who doesn’t like Leonard Cohen?” Viso asks the air, his blue eyes flicking up to the shop’s alternating mustard yellow and white ceiling panels. “They don’t have a soul if they don’t like him!”
Lisa or Kim, maybe you could check it out and give us a first hand report!

I was there on Thursday and enjoyed some rare Leonard Cohen music along with a nice latte prepared by the owner.
I met a friend who is also a booklover and we found it hard to focus on conversation with the books and art on display.
I will return but maybe just to sip coffee and browse the books. Edin has an old world charm that completes the atmosphere.

The poetry reading tonight is extremely well organized. I have been asked to recite poetry for seven minutes. Never before have I been given such precise directions for a poetry reading! Pretty cool!
