This is very cool Geoffrey, a good use of chalk.

thank you, cate. it is chalk on thick (300g) black paper 60 x 50cm. took a chance and sprayed it with fixative as an experiment to see if the fragile chalk would tolerate a damp preservative - and it seems to be holding ok. i have earlier destroyed several works by using the wrong fixative. it's a delicate procedure, and annoying when the picture starts bubbling and gets all fizzy like wet sherbet - like when you sprinkle salt onto a snail (heh heh!) thanks for commenting, you gorgeous little sunflower -gx

I've never drawn using chalk before but for chalk pastels I spray with hairspray and it works fine.

yes, i have heard that hairspray works fine, but haven't tried it myself. the chalk kept smudging so i had to be careful how i positioned my hands. it's fun to experiment, and no real disaster if it fails because one learns a valuable lesson. last week i tried to draw with a tube of toothpaste but it was unsuccessful. i have been looking at your impressive website, gwen - fantastic!!!

Thank you

A labour of love.
I like experimenting too but I mainly fail! However I have fun trying!

your website is an inspiring place to visit, and you are a genius with a camera. i plan to look in occasionally, although it makes me green with envy because it's out of my league. i'd like to see more of your artwork.
here is a view of my bathroom walls; don't plan on putting leonard in there with elvis and bob - but the ones i haven't sold yet are scattered many other places in my flat

Love it! I rent so even if I could draw like this I don't think my landlord would be too impressed

He grudgingly allows me hang posters and photos!
you are a genius with a camera
Thank you! I find it much easier to paint with my camera! I will persevere though. I only started drawing a month or so ago for the first time since school. I am better than I was then and put that down to having to understand light from the camera.
You should do a blog about your artwork with a little description of the method used to do each. I started mine just to have all my Leonard related stuff in one place for easy reference for me and the fact others enjoy it too is a great bonus. It is my go to place when times are tough (as they are now) to give me strength and inspiration to know life won't always be this bad and even if it is I have wonderful memories, like you do
