Iyer's ESSENTIAL Liner Notes

Hi everyone,
Well, Pico Iyer's Liner Notes are disappointing, to say the least. I felt like I was reading "Cohen for Dummies."
I wish Stephen Scobie would have been called to do that job.
But, hey, that's just my opinion. I have no idea who Iyer is, but he does have an interesting name.
Take care,
Natalie

Natalie,
I posted a message on this board, dated September 17th, asking why Leonard didn't write the liner notes to "The Essential...".I also asked who had control of this project...Leonard or Sony.
I guess it's all down to business; I guess my post is worth as much as yours.
As aye,
Andrew.
Who's Pico?

Pico Iyer is, apparently, a travel writer. How he got the gig to write Leonard's liner notes is anyone's guess.

He's written on Leonard before, so it may be related to the nature of their relationship, i.e. friendship and trust. I got the sense it was intended to be more of an overview for newcomers, rather than in-depth material...he'd have had to address many more areas and likely wouldn't have had enough liner-note space for the depth we longtimers look for anymore, based on cumulative knowledge over the years. I saw him on the TV-interview program that also hosted Judith Fitzgerald, and he's an amazingly cool man.
