My three new verses for Hallelujah

It's one of the most beautiful songs ever, and no wonder it's covered by so many great artists. It's practically impossible to sound bad singing it!!
So without knowing where else to publish them, I registered on this site and hereby offer my three original verses. When sung, usually only three to five of Leonard's seven verses are used (almost always "I've heard there was a secret chord..." and "Your faith was strong but you needed proof..." plus one or two others). I recently began participating in an open mic at a bar here in Yerevan, Armenia where I live, where it's not uncommon to hear Hallelujah (but where I don't think I've ever heard another LC song in a bar). I plan to try these out. The originality is all LC's... I just figured, what the heck? He provided one of the greatest songs I know, and thinking of some new lyrics is nothing more than a tribute to him.

You're a stranger in a foreign land
Your only pillow's made of sand
Somebody said "the rules don't pertain to you"
When they lock you up and lose the key
You'll still be who you need to be
And sing for them your song of Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

In a dream it came to you at last
The magic trick to forget the past
But hallucinations they could never fool you
When you wake up and the pain returns
You'll lick your wounds and salve your burns
Your agony's ecstatic, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

The end has come before its time
So cut your bread and pour your wine
Salvation will not wait for a brand new you
You tried your best but failed the test
The Lord forgives you in your rest
And through eternity it's Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Oh my gosh, BruceMatzkin, such a beautiful and creative set of lyrics these are, and still retaining a Leonard-like tone with them.
If it's possible when you perform these at the open mic, would love it if you could somehow record your performance and post it here, as well.
Meanwhile, well done!
Without going into any of the why's right now, I LOVE these lyrics!

And, welcome to the Forum :) !

Thank you so much, lizzytysh! I wasn't sure if I'd get resentment or encouragement! LOL. Coming from someone who's been here as long as you have and posted as much as you have, your compliment is especially meaningful and appreciated. I will definitely record the first performance of these lyrics (well, my first... I hope some here who might like them will use them somewhere)... I just need to find a guitarist to accompany me (I don't play a note!!). Glad to be here.
