The 53rd Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival will take place August 15-17, 2014 near Schwenksville, PA.

There are a number of performers (Janis Ian included) that I'm especially looking forward to seeing on this year's Philadelphia Folk Festival stages. Our Joe Way's thread about Archie Fisher(viewtopic.php?f=15&t=35106) has me looking forward to what will be my first time seeing Archie Fisher perform.

Gene Shay will be emceeing the Festival for his 53rd consecutive year.

Looking forward to the Philadelphia Folk Festival next weekend. The advance weather forecast is excellent.
Yesterday, spent four hours at a bluegrass event and now the Philadelphia Folk Festival is on the horizon.

Another outstanding Philadelphia Folk Festival has come and gone. Memories of many excellent performances
will remain for the Festival's attendees. Tommy Emmanuel provided guitar accompaniment for Janis Ian's
performance of "At Seventeen." This was a remarkable union of two master artists; a very memorable performance. Tommy Emmanuel's own set was amazing and made it easy to understand why people (including acclaimed guitarists)
hold him in the highest regard. The Festival had a very wide range of musical diversity. There was music for just about anybody to thoroughly enjoy. Certainly others shared in the dilemma of finding desirable performances simultaneously taking place on the Festival's different stages. -- Got sidetracked on the way to the "Celtic Afternoon" performances at the Camp Stage by "Acoustic Blues" going on at the Craft Stage. Wish I could have been at both without missing a minute of either (an enviable problem, I know). Couldn't be at the Festival Friday night; was there for most of Saturday and Sunday. The Festival was a celebration of music, an example of great organization and outstanding volunteer effort, and had (of course) an amiable crowd, and great weather. I'm particularly pleased that traditional folk music (blues, bluegrass, etc.) continues to be represented at the Festival. Can't wait for next year. Thanks to the organizers, volunteers, attendees, musicians, and "mother nature" for making this year's Philadelphia Folk Festival as wonderful as it was.
