"But you have taught the heart to search itself in
simple ways, with broom and rag..."
L. Cohen

Wake to the Sound of Rumi Playing the Drums
That thing that likes to dance inside of your chest,
is awake again. Find yourself in the kitchen
dancing to breakfast radio tunes as you boil and stir,
plate and toast. Hum to him. The thing that like to dance,
likes the rhythm of the mundane; the sound of a bag
falling into an empty cup, of water rushing over it,
the chime of a spoon. He leaves you to follow
a stream of milk, swills through the dark waters
where they branch and merge into something new.
