Poetry Contest Finals

Well folks, here it is.

I am going to post each poem in a single thread. There were 26 total poems submitted of which 23 were anonymous. Only the anonymous poems have been included in the judging.

Before I start posting, I am sending the #'s of the 2 grand prize winners, the 4 "Almost Winners" to Linda. The rest of the poems will remain, "Honorable Mention." Many of these are very good poems, but I do not feel qualified to do further rankings.

I'm doing this because I intend to follow up with some comments on the threads of the winning poems and don't want to be accused of being influenced by comments posted on the poems in the ensuing time. It will probably take me another day to finish posting my comments. Please enjoy all these wonderful efforts by our poets.

Poets, thank you for your participation and please take all praise and criticism with a grain of salt-I only volunteered for this to try to make it happen for some fun for all of us.

Everyone keep working on your poetry and thank all your critics who challenge you to do better.

Joe

Can you please say the numbers of the poems that were not anonymous?

Hi Sandra,

As Joe said, out of the 26 entered, only the 23 that remained anonymous to Joe would be judged. I don't think that Joe or I, as impartial officials of the comp. are at liberty to disclose the author of any poem.

The names of the poets are known only to me and the poets themselves. I offered to act as intermediary, once more, to any poets who wanted their name listed in a post together with the # of their poem. So far, no takers. If the Poet wishes to step up and let the forum know that he/she is the author of a certain poem, they are free to do that as well. Otherwise, the authors of the poems shall forever remain a secret between me and the poets.

Hope this answers your question,
Linda.

>Linda, I did not mean to know the "name" of the poems that are not anonymous but the "numbers"..... :)

Hi Sandra,

So, sorry, it is the dawning of a new day (but it's still dark out) so I'm not quite sufficiently caffeine pumped!

I believe it is our intention to leave all entries as simply numbers.
Announcing only the winners and almost winners. I think that by pointing out the poems that were not judged, is getting too close to the anonymous nature of this competition. I hope I answered your question this time. If not, I'll try again after another cuppa.

It is certainly interesting to hear the questions/comments that people have after the competition. Questions we had not even considered at the beginning. I'm just sitting here and looking things over (drinking coffee) so please, if you have any more questions, let 'er rip! :D
