I know he lived on Hydra - but I could have sworn in the bio I read years ago it was also Menorca? Or was it Mallorca? One of the Balearics!
Any info one can share on this would be appreciated!

I believe Leonard lived in Morocco for a while, years ago (in the '60's, I think) - it's not a Mediterranean island, but maybe that's what you read? I think that's where his relationship with Mandrax began.

From Ira B. Nadel's Various Positions (end of the 3rd chapter):
On October 29, 1959, Cohen was issued his first passport. It is a well-used document, with stamps that record his wanderings over the following decade: Greece, France, Britain, the United States, Morocco, Cuba, and Norway.
No Spain (don't forget, till 1975 it was Francoist Spain).

Thank you for confirming that, Roman.
Yes, I was in Spain, I'm pretty sure it was the summer of 1975, & there were armed officers all over the place & everyone was terrified of La Policia. I don't remember when in '75 the regime changed, but when I was there, I think it was during a transition period soon after Franco, & the atmosphere was still very edgy. . .

Thanks, guys!
I guess he didn't live anywhere else in the Med. I read Ira's biography about 12 years ago or so and thought I had read it there.
Looks like it was just Hydra.
Thanks again.
