Do you think that I can help you?

Do you think that I can help you
Rid the sadness off your eyes
What hope will swiftly form
From my presence in your life

What scar of yours is it
My mere touch can heal
What open wound of sadness
Can my fingers simply seal

Do you think that I can help you
Quench the longing in your heart
What makes my nights so innocent
That each morning’s a new start

What magic lies in my embrace
That will forever keep you warm
What pleasure’s hidden in my rest
That has this thirst take form

Do you think “I” can forgive you
For all your former sins
What strength lies in my mercy
To overcome the guilt within

What salvation comes with my accept
That will relieve you from regret
What gracious mist covers my love
So that you can finally forget

Vegard~

Your poem is beautiful.
The implications it speaks of immense. The speaker's point-of-view, like a step back from a situation difficult to step back from, has just the right amount of sweetness, understanding and realistic contemplations.

The rhymes are welcome-(not thuds of a drum you wish would stop).

A lovely poem.

thanks,
Laurie

Vegard and Laurie ~

I agree with everything you, Laurie, have said on this poem. Two lines, amongst many, that I especially like are,

"What open wound of sadness
Can my fingers simply seal"

Such a unique vision.

Vegard ~ May I have permission to post this on a Memorial site dedicated to the loss of two friends of mine? It speaks to so many things that are appropriate.
