Koos van der Merwe sing Leonard Cohen - In AFRIKAANS !

Ek het al bietjie eksperimenteer in vertonings: ’n Mengsel van Cohen, hier en daar my eie gedigte en bietjie kommentaar. Ek ervaar daar gebeur iets met mense as hulle so ’n aand van skoonheid en diepte beleef.”

The CD contains 14 tracks in total and each with a theme that you should meditate, or crying, or silent. One allows you to smile or two. And maybe, if you start to surrender and allow the deep melancholy captivate you, you will feel like to start slow dancing.

Koos van der Merwe, writer, singer and teacher of Eden Church in George

He nationwide fame with his singing partner, Theo Geyser, as the group Prophet, and the writer and original performer of the hit song, Wooden Cross.
But the way of the CD was a difficult one. Not only had Koos translate words, but he had also feeling, emotion and into the meter of the songs translated. There was never a Cohen-production in Afrikaans and he has appointed an agent obtaining the right to try.
"And this is where my dream shards flowed. I spent months worked on 13 songs and was very excited about my efforts. I tried my best - the best written words, but Mr.. Cohen would not give permission," he says.
After he made it from his attempt and often thought, "I was born to sing these songs," there when suddenly a call from the agent who said: "I've just Received an email. Mr. Cohen has Approved! "

The CD should be by the end of May be released, but the official launch will take place on Father's Day, June 16 at Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria.
