What is "News" ?

Is SS the new LC ?
She's all over the "News" section.

Somehow I think the news that LC is returning to Ireland after all is more newsworthy than where SS is performing!
But then maybe I'm biased...
(Memo - must become more like the Webb sisters, more angelic...)

Sylvie is on a book-promoting and book-signing tour for "I'm Your Man," the biography she wrote on Leonard.
Leonard's returning to Ireland would be in the European Tour section.

I merged the threads "Sylvie in..." Berlin, Sydney and Liverpool.

I think it's a close run thing. Yes, Sylvie is promoting a book about Leonard but she is also promoting herself with her music performances, which are not directly related to the book.

Arguably posts about her appearances (as opposed to news of her book about Leonard) properly belong in the Related Artists section, alongside Sharon, the Webbs etc.

I would say that "News" is when there are Leonard-related events involved. Since people are more likely to look in News, then they're less likely to miss Sylvie's talks. Meanwhile, Sylvie seems to be metamorphosing into Leonard Cohen! :)

From what I've seen with her book promotions, her playing is quite secondary, and her songs are typically covers of Leonard's songs. But her getting the book out there in as many hands as possible is very important in terms of promoting Leonard.

Merging the threads, as Jarkko did, was a great idea.

Well said, Wendy.

I have long ago read SS's book about LC and fail to see why she is so venerated here.
Ira Nadel did a much better job in his time.

Anyway, I no longer care !
LC is returning to Ireland!
Nothing else matters to me now.

Athnuachan - I agree that Ira Nadel deserves far more recognition for setting the template for later Leonard biographies. However, you should not underestimate Sylvie's writing skills or her attention to detail. I take "Related Artists" to refer to musicians, while Sylvie (ukulele notwithstanding) is first and foremost a writer.
